Prices Rising for Metal Products
In the last two weeks, we've had warnings from four
manufacturers that prices are set to increase shortly due to
sharp increases in the cost of steel, aluminum and webbing. We have
already seen one increase in aluminum pricing, and steel chain
pricing for new stock is set to increase on May 31st. If
you have been holding off on placing orders for chain, aluminum
hydraulic cylinders, or wheel strap tie-downs, the next week is
going to probably be the last time you will see any kind of
“recession-beater” pricing. The
economic
stimulus programs around the world have been successful... at
awakening inflationary prices in commodities.
The
good news is that we've still got a little bit of stock left at the
old “recession-beater” pricing. In fact, we just shipped
a whole load of straps and tie-down bars down to Atlanta! Another
load is also on its way to Denver. If
you've got some deferred maintenance items on your trailer, this is a
