The World Food Program estimates that the flooding in Pakistan has displaced over 6 million people.  Fortunately, they are well-situated in this country because of their prior work, so they have the infrastructure in place to deliver aid-- the people, the trucks, the helicopters, etc.  What they need right now is money.  Financial contributions have been slow to arrive in Pakistan, despite the enormity of the catastrophe... but right now, there is still time to save a bad situation from getting worse.  The secretary general of the U.N. toured the site of some of the floods in Pakistan, and he said it was a worse humanitarian crisis than the tsunami or the earthquake in Haiti. 

We believe that the challenges facing the people of Pakistan present western nations like the U.S. an opportunity to help ease suffering, save lives, and win hearts and minds in an area where we need more friends.
