A lot of people ask me what the difference is between the car hauler straps with the swivel J hooks and the car hauler straps that have the double J hooks.

One of the reasons why some people prefer the swivel J straps is because it is easier to use these straps in certain positions where there might be something directly under the deck plate obstructing the hook... it is easier to turn the hook around and go in the other direction.

Another reason some companies buy this depends on what cars they're hauling. If you're hauling for Toyota, for instance, they are VERY particular about how you load and strap down their cars. They require the hook tips to be facing outwards away from the tires. If you hire a driver inexperienced with wheel straps, and he or she has the hook tips facing the wrong way, Toyota will require the load to be re-strapped the proper way. With swivel J carhauler staps, it is simply a matter of un-tensioning the ratchet, then popping out the hooks and turning them the right way. With double J wire hooks on your straps, you have to take the whole strap off and in some cases even take the wire hook idler off and re-strap the load... that can take awhile.

Other than that, there isn't much difference, beyond price. Both assemblies use the same 12,000 lb strap material (ours from PCC do, anyway-- some manufacturers use 10,000 lb material, which is a perfectly appropriate choice for a light-duty type strap.)
