What's so special about Big Orange webbing?
Big Orange webbing is made to a higher tensile specification. You will feel the difference in thickness the moment you take your new straps out of the box. It's not stiff and hard to work with, just thicker and more tightly woven. You can't tell from a picture on a website, but you'll be able to tell when you start working with them.
We do that not because we need a higher weight rating, but because the tighter the weave of the strap, the better its wear characteristics tend to be. (On Big Orange straps, the weakest component is actually the metal portions of the assembly!) There are smaller yarns packed more closely together, and the loops are less apt to get caught on edges and start to fray and cut. We've sold a version of this webbing into the car hauler market for several years, and the webbing has endured the worst kind of abuse those guys dish out to their straps.
The safety tags on these straps 3,333 lbs for the safe working load limit.
And about that Black Handle ratchet...
The Black Handle ratchet is based on a shorter car hauler version we developed for the car hauler market. Unlike the car hauler version, this is a full 10 inches long. You won't need to use any cheater pipes on this one. We wanted a ratchet handle that was a bit more robust in the design, and that had a distinctive look and feel. The pull handle is smooth, and the sides of the ratchet have a black powder-coating. So you can plainly see these are not your run-of-the-mill products. These are products we've designed for professional use.
Last, but definitely not least...
If you buy and use these products, I'd appreciate it if you could leave a product review: good, bad or in between. Of course, if you like the Big Orange straps, I hope you'll tell your friends about them. If you don't like them, I hope you'll call me so I can make it right.
